Getting A Non-Surgical Brow Lift Using Threads
What do Instagram influencers, celebrities strolling down red carpets in LA, and the people of Calgary have in common?
You can all benefit from a beauty boost when you come in for a brow lift!
If you’ve ever wondered how many social media and movie stars manage to get those smooth foreheads and attractive brows, chances are they’ve used some kind of non-surgical brow lift to make it happen. The procedure has exploded in popularity in the last few years, because it is quick, effective, and long-lasting.
What Are Brow Lifts?
Brow lifts, as done here at Bardöt Beauty Boutique, are a form of non-invasive aesthetic treatments that lift and tighten the skin on the upper third of your face. They smooth out the skin on the forehead, raise dropping eyebrows from the sides and centre, and make your eyes appear wider and more youthful. There’s no need for scalpels or surgery.
Brow lifts can be done with injections of Botox in some instances. Here, we generally use a polydioxanone (PDO) or Polylactic acid (PLLA) thread that goes beneath the skin, gently pulls up the underlying tissue, and keeps it in place.
Benefits of Brow Lifts
So, why would someone choose to get a brow lift? Aside from the benefits of thread lifts in general, here is what we’ve found:
1) They lift and shape the brows: This is the most common and obvious reason. As we age, our skin naturally droops, and the thin skin of the upper face is no exception. This can make our brows look heavy, or make any expression come off as sad or angry. By lifting and shaping the brows, older faces can regain the expressiveness of youth, and younger ones can appear even more bright and confident.
2) The threads stimulate collagen: Collagen is the protein responsible for skin elasticity, and as we get older, our bodies make less of it. When threads are used in brow lifts, the surrounding tissue is stimulated to make more collagen. Even after the thread material dissolves in a few months, this production carries forward and helps the area around the lift retain its shape for much longer.
3) They help with asymmetry: sometimes our facial muscles and underlying tissue just don’t cooperate well. One brow may end up lower than the other, or one side of the forehead will have more lines and wrinkles. Getting a brow lift can even out your expression, making your face more symmetrical and appealing at a subliminal level.
How to Do Brow Lifts
Just like some of the other techniques we’ve talked about – ponytail lifts, fox eyes, and so on – brow lifts are considered a medical aesthetic procedure. This means they should be done by a trained professional that can reduce the risk of error and infection, and they are not something you should try to do at home.
At Bardöt, we do a full consultation before any work is done, in order to ensure you are a good candidate for the process. We use a local anaesthetic to numb the upper face, keeping discomfort to a minimum. With very small needles and dissolvable threads, we tighten and lift the skin around the forehead and brows, bringing them to the level you chose in the earlier consultations.
And really, that’s all there is to it! There are no incisions or trauma to the underlying tissue, so the entire lift will only take about an hour. Having an experienced professional handling the threads will ensure a great result and proper healing in the weeks ahead, and many months to enjoy your new look.
