A PDO or PLLA Thread Lift is a minimally invasive treatment that lifts and tightens sagging skin using sutures, or threads made of either polydioxanone (PDO) or Polylactic acid (PLLA). The lifting thread is introduced into the deep layers of the skin and produces three effects:
- Instant skin lifting through mechanical effects,
- Cellular renewal through collagen stimulation and neovascularization to improve texture, fine lines, and wrinkles.
- Skin tightening by approximating tissues.
Threads dissolve through hydrolysis after three to six months. The lifted facial contours can remain for up to two years due to cellular rejuvenation effects.
PDO and PLLA thread treatments are safe with very few side effects.

As we age, our skin suffers substantially. Loose skin creates sagging and bags that are difficult to cover. A face lift is the only way to permanently rid yourself of these issues, but going under the knife is a daunting thought for most people. Silhouette (PLLA) and Mint (PDO) lifts provides a revolutionary type of facial rejuvenation without surgery. Commonly known as the thread face lift , you can dramatically improve your looks and reduce the signs of aging without surgery.
Thread lifts reposition underlying tissues and smooth and soften facial skin. It produces immediate and longer-lasting results than treatments with dermal fillers and BOTOX®. As another anti-aging option for a tailored and customized facial rejuvenation, thread procedures fill the gap between surgery and injectables.

Before & After
What will a Thread Lift do for me?
Threads can return the V-shape of your face, lift dropping brows, and tighten jowls and pesky nasolabial lines. It creates a scaffolding that supports the tissues that have inverted or diminished because of aging. It delicately lifts tissues and repositions your skin to recreate a firmer face.
What areas are treated with Threads?
Threads can be used to help lift sagging brows, soften smile lines and tuck away loose skin around the jaw line.
How is the Thread Lift performed?
Numbing will be provided both topically and via injection during the procedure. Threads are inserted strategically under the skin to desired affect. There are no cuts or incisions as all treatments are done by injection and under local anesthetic.
How do I know I'm getting the most skilled medical provider?
Good Providers will never stop learning and investing in their training. Make sure your provider keeps themselves up to date with the most innovate techniques and products, but also has a solid foundation in procedure based medicine. A skilled and experienced provider has completed a university affiliated procedure based training program and specializes in aesthetic medicine. The medical experts at BARDÖT beauty are Calgary's leading experts in thread lifts. International trained by both the Canadian and American Academy of Facial Aesthetics as well as completing both the MINT, Silhouette and FIONA thread lifts training programs we offer a wide range of thread products and services to best suit your skin health goals.
How do I know if I am a good candidate for thread lift?
For the most optimal results, the ideal candidate should have a skin layer that is not too thin or too thick and not extremely uneven. The skin should be thin enough so thread can make a visible difference and thick enough so the threads are not too close to the surface of the skin. One way to check before a consultation with your provider is to lay down on your back and see if you like the way your face looks, as it can be a good indicator of how effective threads can be. Lastly, please consult one of our medical team members for a free in house or virtual consultation.
How old do I have to be?
Thread lifts are recommended for both women and men ages 30-50+ who experience moderate sagging in the midface, jowls, nasolabial folds, neck, and eyebrows. Treads provide two way care: patients may also experience improvement in skin texture, fine lines, and elasticity from collagen stimulation and neovascularization which will help soften wrinkles and fine lines and give the skin an overall firmer and tighter look. However, the procedure is also great for younger patients who are looking to define their jawlines with sharper V-lines and obtain a more snatched and contoured facial structure or fix droopy eyelids.
What kind of results can be achieved with thread lifts?
Thread lift results are immediate. You do not have to wait weeks and months to see your results. Although individual results may vary, common results achieved include:
• Heart shaped, higher cheekbone contour
• Exotic, cat eye contour
• Snatched, defined jaw line
• Softer smile lines
• Softer eyebrows
• Smoother neck lines
What if I have other procedures I have done or want to get done?
Thread lifts are a great procedure to get in conjunction with other treatments such as lasers, PRP, injectables, BOTOX®, and fillers. The threads can be used to target sagging skin and fillers can be utilized for deep lines to create an overall youthful appearance to the face. Ask your provider to learn more about treatment combinations to maximize the effects of your thread lift.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes an average of one hour but can take anywhere between 45 minutes to 90 minutes. Patients will see immediate results after the procedure that can last up to 3 year.
